Department of PharmaceuticsThe department of pharmaceutics is one of the six departments within the pharmacy wing of Lachoo College. The department of pharmaceutics is regarded as an important one in teaching research in the areas of drug formulation, drug delivery, biopharmaceutical assessment etc. Pharmaceutics is concerned with the strategies by which biologically active compounds are presented to the body so as to elicit an optimal response. It includes the design, preparation; formulation and testing of drug delivery systems. The word pharmaceutics is used in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical science to encompass many subject areas, which are all associated with the steps to which a drug is subjected towards the end of its development i.e., it is the stages that follow its discovery or synthesis, its isolation and purification and testing for advantageous pharmacological effects and the absence of serious toxicological problems. It is concerned with the scientific and technological aspects of the design and manufacture of dosage forms.

This well furnished department caters to the practical requirements of the subject technologies of Drugs and Cosmetics, Biological Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutics, Dispensing pharmacy, Pharmaceutical engineering and unit operations. This laboratory is equipped with the state of art equipment and machinery required for impartment used in mfg. of pharmaceutical dosage forms like tablets, capsules, ointment, liquid orals, parentrals, novel drug delivery systems, packaging science etc.

The following laboratories have been established according to the norms of AICTE for pharmaceutical education in the DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICS.

  • Pharmaceutics Laboratory-I with machine room. (Dispensing Pharmacy, Physical Pharmacy and Cosmeticology)
  • Pharmaceutics Laboratory–II with machine room (Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Engineering and Dosage Form Design)
  • Pharmaceutics Laboratory–III with aseptic area (including Microbiology, Biological Pharmacy, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics and Biotechnology & Fermentation and Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy.)
